The Hades Book Club
The Hades Book Club is an initiative launched by Hades Financial Capital Group, a global asset manager with USD 6.1Bn in AUM investing in alternatives through its fund of funds and secondaries arms. The book club aims to cultivate a stronger reading habit among venture capital, private equity, hedge fund, and allied services professionals. As an industry built on connecting disparate pieces of information, we've observed a concerning trend of under-reading within these fields.
Insufficient information leads to suboptimal investment decisions.
Here are the guidelines and policies of the Hades Book Club:
Book selections are decided by a rotating committee of moderators who change every 3 months. Each committee is responsible for suggesting a total of 3 books spread out over a quarter, averaging one book per month.
All members are encouraged to submit reviews of the books they read, using the provided template, within three days of completion. Reviewers who complete a total of 20 books in a year are eligible for a cash award of $5,000 (or the equivalent in the local currency).
The best reviewer for each book will receive a hard copy of the reviewed book. Where possible, an author-autographed copy will be made available.
The club will host at least two events for members annually, alongside monthly industry expert talks (think partners and heads at Apollo, Mubadala, Carlyle, etc). Local chapter heads may also organize additional monthly or quarterly meetups.
There is a $50 USD entry fee to join the club. Local chapters will use this fee to create experiences and activities for the community.
